Need advice about painkiller addiction.?

Question by KATTIN: Need advice about painkiller addiction.?
Is there anyway I can stop taking them myself without having to go to some kind of rehab? I’ve been addicted for about 4 years , no one knows this , not even my fiance family or friends. Truthfully I enjoy taking them ( although I really have no pain anywhere.) They have become part of my daily routine . I feel like I can cope with anything as long as I have them , Yet, I feel I can handle nothing without them. I spend almost all of my weekly paycheck on them. Please someone tell me that there is hope for someone as pathetic as myself. I’m afraid if I dont try to stop on my on that I will end up going to rehab. I dont want to do that because honestly I couldn’t deal with the humilation and embarrasment from my family and friends not to mention the possibility of losing my job!

While going to rehab is probably the best way of dealing with this there are other options. It might be a good idea to start by opening up to at least one friend or family member, you shouldn’t be trying to face this alone and support will help you. After this or if you can’t even handle this then you should consider seeing a counselor, preferably one experienced in handling this issues. This would be an alternative to rehab that meant other people didn’t have to know you have a problem if you really don’t want to tell them.

There really is not a whole lot of things you can do. I know what this feels like but there are alternatives to these pills. You can go ahead and buy some herbal “painkillers” i use a herb called kratom.. it is used in thailand to help cure opium herion and codeine addiction all of which is what most of the painkillers nowaways come from. It gives you that good feeling without wanting more. But if this has been going on for about 4 years then you really shouldn’t look for any other way to treat this other than going into rehab. This is not an insult but just simply a fact that most people who have long term addiction (more than 2 years) return to that addiction because it makes them feel like they can go on only with that one substance. I really say you go get some help at a rehab center, but it is really your choice. Try some herbal remedies try anything but if it doesn’t work you should probably just check into rehab. I know this might end you engagement or hurt some people. But i think as long as you let them know that you are going to go for help and nothing else then everything will be fine. If these people really love you they will stick by your side through whatever and help you through this terrible time. I to know this addiction and it is one of the hardest to kick. Please go get some help before you start to hurt your other relationships. It will get bad when you can’t manage all of it (addiction, relationships, and family)
