Is this a shopping addiction?
Question by BarbieDollie: Is this a shopping addiction?
i am 15 yrs old in high school.and i think i have a problem with shopping.i asking because i recently saw the episode on true life:im a compulsive shopper, and the girl ali reminds me alot of myself, but when im older and move out i dont want to end thousands of dollars in debt like her.
I live with just my grandma, growing up i’ve always pretty much gotten everything a wanted.but my family is not rich,at all.we’re kinda average i guess.
I don’t really have any real friends at school or anywhere else,i feel so lonely at school(i dont kno if this really matters, but i heard not having freinds and shopping are linked?)but if i go shopping right after school it will make me feel better.and im not that close with my family or anyone for that matter.
i’ve put my grandma in debt a few times, but somehow we’ve always managed to get by.i remember a while back my grandma literaly didn’t have any money to give me at all.so i stole $ 50 from my uncle.but i never stole money again after that.
every month i spend between $ 200-$ 700 dollars.but this month so far i’ve spent about $ 650. whether it by just some nail polish,or a nintendo wii.i feel like i have to get it.i wont think about anything else until i get it.
right now im wanting my grandma to take me to walmart just to get a few things, she keeps telling me ive spent too much.but im not gonna spend more than $ 20. she just keeps telling me to study because finals are comming up and my grades are slipping alot.im worried that i might not pass some of my classes.but i cant even start to do my work until i get the stuff i need at walmart right now.
does anyone else have this problem?
plz help me,shopping gives me a feeling that i can’t really explain and i love it,but that feeling dosent last for long.then i just feel like i have to get more stuff to get that same feeling.

I’m not a psychologist or anything, but you sure do have a problem. You need to get some kind of help, ask your grandmother or a guidance counselor at school. You may be suffering from some form of depression. You get this high off of shopping. It makes you feel good, but when it goes away so quickly you have to do it again very soon or else you can’t stand the feeling.
