Has anyone ever gotten addicted to sleeping pills. Not addicted as in you can’t sleep without them, but addicted to the way it makes you feel. Is that possible?

I know people who have. It’s very possible, but only if you’re abusing them.

Sleeping pills (especially benzodiazepines) are some of the most addictive drugs around. The withdrawls can KILL you, and give you seizures.

I was addicted to sleeping pills for five years. It took me 18 months and a lot of specialised care, including two stints in rehab to kick the habit. Sleeping pill addiction is no joke and it’s not just bored housewives who become addicts. I still have trouble sleeping and from time to time need short courses of the drugs to help with anxiety, sleep and mood. My addiction was as a result off withdrawing from a heroine/codeine addiction, but coming off the sleepers was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to kick. I’ve been clean for ten months and am finally getting my life together and completeing my University degree, but it’s still hard.
