I’m looking for a long term in patient treatment facility for a 16 year old male. He is using drugs, defiant, has been suspended, expelled, gets in fights. He’s been to counseling, arrested, we moved, switched schools. Nothing seems to help. I can Google places but I would rather hear from people who have actually experience from the rehab centers. Willing to go anywhere in the country. Any recommendations?

Well O.D.D can’t just be fixed. That’s a mental issue and may need medication to help control it & with the fighting he may have some anger issues too but most kids are angry for a reason, it just doesn’t happen for nothing. He is doing all of this and may just not be ready to tell you why. Emotional and mental problems can’t always be fixed with “rehab” either but with meds and treatment plans and with you moving and switching schools and what not probably doesn’t help matters either because getting him on a treatment plan and then moving kinda defeats the treatment plan. If he is doing drugs and not ready to change rehab isn’t going to help, you could pay all the money in the world to the greatest rehab just to have him come out back to doing it again. He has to want the change for himself not just to please others.
