Question by zombie*dolly: how much spending money should i bring to san francisco for a holiday?
i am planning on going there alone, im an 18yr old girl. i will have my flight/accomadation paid for prior to this. so how much should i bring for everything else? (food/drinks/etc) i will be going for 5 days but the first day i will be possibly be suffering from jetlag and the last day will be spent at the airport..so really i only need money for 3-4 days.

It really depends on what your taste is. Restaurants in San Francisco can run from very inexpensive to very expensive. For food, ground transport (taxi/subway) a rough estimate would be US$ 100 per day. RoughGuide and Lonely Planet both have good guidebooks to San Francisco.

As far as safety goes, it is similar to other large cities in that while many areas are generally safe, there are dangerous parts of town where drug abuse and crime are rampant.
